Balsamic Glazed Pork Chops

Ingredients

2 pounds pork chops 2 teaspoons sea salt, to taste ground black pepper, to taste 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, or avocado oil ¼ cup balsamic vinegar 3 tablespoons honey 2 teaspoons minced garlic 1 ½ teaspoons Italian seasoning ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes, optional

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 400F. Season pork chops with salt and pepper.

2. Heat oil in an oven proof skillet over medium high heat.

3. For 1 inch pork chops: Sear chops in skillet for 5 minutes on each side.

4. Transfer to a glass baking dish and bake for 15-20 minutes, until an internal temperature of 145F is reached.

5. For ¾ inch pork chops: Sear chops in skillet for 5 minutes on each side, until an internal temperature of 145F is reached.

6. For ½ inch pork chops: Sear chops in skillet for 2-3 minutes on each side, until an internal temperature of 145F is reached.

7. Meanwhile, to make the glaze, combine balsamic vinegar, honey, garlic, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes in a saucepan over medium heat. Season with salt and pepper.

8. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer about 5 minutes, until balsamic vinegar begins to thicken.

9. Serve pork chops topped with balsamic glaze.
