Black Bean Burgers

Ingredients

1 onion 2 avocados 4 cups cooked black beans 2 teaspoons minced garlic ½ cup ground flaxseed 4 teaspoons chili powder sea salt, to taste ground black pepper, to taste ketchup, for serving

Instructions

1. Peel and dice the onion. Peel, pit, and slice the avocados.

2. In a large bowl, add the black beans and mash them with a spatula or large fork. Fold in the onions, garlic, flaxseed, chili powder, salt, and pepper.

3. Form the mixture into burger sized patties.

4. Cook on the grill set to medium high heat or to cook stovetop, heat fat in skillet on high heat.

5. For either method, cook 3 minutes on the first side. Flip and cook for 3 minutes on the other side until medium rare, longer if you prefer the burgers well done.

6. Serve on a plate, topped with organic ketchup and avocado.

7. Freeze any leftover burgers for a later meal.
