Mixed Berry Compote

Ingredients

4 cups mixed berries, fresh or frozen ½ cup cane sugar ½ cup water ½ teaspoon cinnamon, optional

Instructions

1. If using fresh strawberries, hull and give them a quick chop.

2. Place berries in a saucepan over medium heat.

3. Add sugar and water. Stir and bring to a boil.

4. Once boiling, lower heat and allow to simmer for 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat.

5. Once berries are softened, use a potato masher to break up larger pieces. Mash until texture is to your liking and compote has thickened slightly.

6. Add cinnamon and stir.

7. Serve warm, room temperature, or cold over pancakes, waffles, or crepes.
