Simple Pan Seared Steak

Ingredients

12 ounces New York Strip steaks 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350F.

2. Pat the steaks dry with paper towels and season with salt and pepper or steak seasoning.

3. Heat an oven proof skillet over medium-high heat for a couple of minutes, then add olive oil. Place the steaks, separated at least 1 inch apart, in skillet.

4. Sear on the first side for 3 minutes. Flip and sear the second side for 3 minutes.

5. Place skillet in oven. Cook for 4-8 minutes, depending on the thickness of the steaks and how you want the steaks cooked.

6. When in doubt, insert a meat thermometer into the middle of one steak and monitor the temperature (at least 145F).

7. Remove the steaks from the skillet and let rest at least 5 minutes before serving.

8. Optional: as the steak is resting add a small dollop of herbed butter for added flavor restaurant-style.
